Selina Kyle is the finest thief Gotham has ever produced, and Gotham has produced professionals. She works high floors and higher society, takes only from those who will not miss it (a flexible category), and has escaped every trap the city's police, rogues and vigilantes have ever set. The whip is for show. The exits were memorized before she came in.
Her longest game is the one she never quite finishes: the Bat. Sometimes adversary, sometimes ally, sometimes very nearly a bride, Catwoman is the only person in Gotham who meets the Dark Knight as an equal on a rooftop and leaves him wondering who was chasing whom. She lands on her feet. She always lands on her feet.

Catwoman has been reinvented more than any character in the Bat-canon and survived every version: the purring camp of Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt in the sixties, Michelle Pfeiffer's stitched-vinyl nervous breakdown in 1992 (still the benchmark), Anne Hathaway's cool professional, Zoë Kravitz's stray. She was there in Batman #1 in 1940, before almost anyone else.
Eight decades on, the Bat and the Cat remain comics' longest unresolved romance, an engagement, an altar, and still no ending. That is rather the point.

Catwoman is a softgoods proving ground: a catsuit in sixth scale forgives nothing, and each era, vinyl, tactical, goggled, demands its own tailoring answer. She prowls the DC shelf across multiple film likenesses, whip and goggles in tow, with Hot Toys handling the definitive screen versions.
