I'm the strongest woman in the world!
THE LEGEND
The file says Interpol officer, and the file is underselling it. Chun-Li has spent her career walking alone into the operations of Shadaloo, the crime syndicate whose leader took her father from her, armed with nothing but a badge, a code, and legs that strike faster than the eye can follow. The Lightning Kick is not a technique so much as a weather event: a hundred strikes in the space of a breath, and the fight is generally over before the count reaches double digits.
What separates her from every other fighter on the circuit is what she is fighting for. Not a title, not a throne, not the thrill. Justice, in the oldest sense: the debt owed to her father, paid forward to every city Shadaloo touches. She calls herself the strongest woman in the world, and the world has spent three decades failing to produce a counterexample.
OFF THE PAGE
When Street Fighter II hit arcades in 1991, Chun-Li was the only woman on a roster of eight, the first playable female fighter in a mainstream fighting game, and she changed the genre's DNA on contact. Capcom's designers gave her speed where the men had bulk, and players discovered that fast beats strong more often than strong admits. Every fighting-game heroine since, from Mai to Cammy to an entire industry of successors, walks through a door Chun-Li kicked open.
She has anchored the series through every generation since, her spinning bird kick and qipao silhouette as recognisable as any character in games. Three decades on she remains Capcom's first lady in the literal sense: first on the select screen, first in the history books, and still, by her own accounting and most others', the strongest woman in the world.
IN SIXTH SCALE
Chun-Li at sixth scale is a coded-figure heartland: the fighting-game licences rarely reach 1/6 officially, so the studios stepped in. Super Duck has dressed her for every occasion across its catalogue, Play Toy and Toystay carry their own tellings, and the results range from arcade-accurate qipaos to training-gear variants. Buying her usually means choosing a head sculpt, an outfit and a body and assembling your own main.
She also anchors the Street Fighter shelf the way she anchors the roster: everyone else is optional, Chun-Li is the buy-in. A World Warrior display without her is a rough draft, and collectors know it.
THE SCOUTING REPORT
The Archivist's estimates, scribbled between shelf dustings. Not canon, not law, and absolutely worth arguing about in the Courtyard.
