Wade Wilson was a mercenary with a mouth, a diagnosis, and very little to lose, which is how he ended up in a program that cured his cancer by making it permanent: a healing factor so aggressive it regrows him faster than the world can break him, wrapped in skin like an avocado's regrets. Death is less a threat to him than a revolving door with bad service. The scars go deeper than the suit, which is why the jokes never stop. He narrates his own violence, argues with voices only he hears, and has an unsettling habit of addressing someone beyond the room, as if he knows he is being read. Under the noise is the punchline he never lands cleanly: an unkillable man who wants, more than anything, to be a good one. Occasionally, briefly, maximum-effortly, he is.
