THE LEGEND
Commander James Bond, Royal Navy, agent 007 of Her Majesty's Secret Service: the double-O means a licence to kill, and MI6 has never issued one to a steadier hand. He has ended world-domination schemes in volcano lairs, space stations and casino back rooms, usually in a dinner jacket, always with the same introduction. The tuxedo is armor. The charm is a weapon system.
Behind the martinis is the service's blunt instrument: orphaned young, married once (for a single afternoon, and the wound never closed), and expended by his country over and over because he is the only one who keeps coming back. England expects. Bond delivers, with a quip on the way out.
OFF THE PAGE
Ian Fleming wrote him in 1953 as "the dullest name I could find" and accidentally created the most durable hero in cinema: sixty-plus years, twenty-five films, the longest-running franchise in film history. Each recasting is a cultural referendum: Connery's cruelty, Moore's eyebrow, Dalton's edge, Brosnan's polish, Craig's blunt trauma, and the "next Bond" debate is practically a British institution.
The gun-barrel walk, the theme, "shaken, not stirred": no franchise owns more instantly recognizable furniture. Nobody does it better.
IN SIXTH SCALE
Bond in sixth scale is a tailoring examination: a miniature dinner jacket that actually drapes is among the hardest softgoods in the hobby, and the likeness roster spans six actors and six decades of the James Bond shelf. The Walther PPK, the attaché case and the Aston Martin keys are the signature kit.
