THE LEGEND

Erik Lehnsherr survived humanity's worst camps as a child and drew one conclusion he has never abandoned: never again, and never at anyone's mercy. The Master of Magnetism commands every scrap of metal on Earth, from the iron in a guard's blood to satellites in orbit, and he has bent bridges, submarines and stadiums to make a single point: mutantkind will not wait politely to be exterminated. The tragedy is that his best friend agrees with the diagnosis and despises the cure. Erik and Charles Xavier have spent a lifetime playing chess over the same board, each certain the other is the naive one. Magneto is not a monster. He is a survivor who decided the next war would not find his people unarmed, and that is what makes him unanswerable.

OFF THE PAGE

Magneto debuted in 1963 as a stock villain and became something far greater when Chris Claremont gave him his history: a Holocaust survivor whose extremism grows from real atrocity. It remains the gold standard for villain-deepening in comics, an antagonist whose argument you cannot fully dismiss. Ian McKellen gave him gravity and mischief; Michael Fassbender gave him rage and grief; the helmet, which keeps Xavier out of his head, became an icon in its own right. Every "villain who has a point" of the past thirty years walks a road Magneto paved.

IN SIXTH SCALE

Magneto is a regal figure in sixth scale: the crimson armor, the sweeping cape, and that unmistakable helmet, with comic-styled and film-likeness versions serving different shelves of the Marvel mutant wing. Levitation poses and metal-debris effect parts are where he comes alive; a Magneto with both feet on the ground is only half the argument. Set him opposite an X-Man and the chessboard builds itself. The full brotherhood is below, newest first.

THE SCOUTING REPORT

The Archivist's estimates, scribbled between shelf dustings. Not canon, not law, and absolutely worth arguing about in the Courtyard.
