Perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.
Ash, Alien (1979)

THE LEGEND

Specimen designation XX121, and every crew that ever catalogued one is dead. The cycle is engineering at its cruelest: the egg waits (years, centuries, it does not care), the facehugger takes a host, and what bursts out grows in hours into the perfect organism: biomechanical carapace, acid for blood, a second set of jaws, and no conscience anywhere in the design. It does not hate. It does not negotiate. It builds hives in the dark of stations and colonies, serves a queen, and treats every other living thing as either a threat or a womb. The company that keeps trying to weaponize it has never once collected. In space, famously, no one can hear what happens next.

OFF THE PAGE

The Xenomorph is H.R. Giger's nightmare made flesh: the Swiss surrealist's biomechanical designs so unsettled Ridley Scott that he built 1979's Alien around them, with 6'10" design student Bolaji Badejo inside the suit. The result is arguably the greatest creature design in film history, sexual, skeletal and wrong in ways audiences still cannot quite articulate. James Cameron's Aliens added the queen and the war movie; four decades of sequels, crossovers and prequels have interrogated the thing from every angle. The design has never needed an update. Perfection shipped in 1979.

IN SIXTH SCALE

A sixth-scale Xenomorph is a sculpture commitment: the elongated dome, the ribbed tail (a posing challenge all its own), the inner jaw mechanism, and finish work that has to read wet under light. The Alien shelf runs from the 1979 Big Chap through Aliens warriors, with Hot Toys handling the definitive screen versions. It is the apex predator of any display it joins, ideally stalking a Ripley. The full hive is below, newest first.

THE SCOUTING REPORT

The Archivist's estimates, scribbled between shelf dustings. Not canon, not law, and absolutely worth arguing about in the Courtyard.
