FROM THE KEEP · WEDNESDAY 14 OCTOBER
“It’s an older code, sir, but it checks out.”
— ADMIRAL PIETT, RETURN OF THE JEDI
The Archive has made a small correction to the beginning of Hot Toys. It appears the beginning was earlier. Today, 46 pre-MMS figures were accessioned into the catalogue, stretching back through Hot Toys’ old military lines to some of the earliest pieces we have ever filed from them. Rangers. SEALs. SDU. Pararescue. CIA. SWAT. Convention editions. Enough camouflage to lose half the shelf if somebody turns the lights off. And then, right at the bottom: M/AF/0001 · F-14 Tomcat Pilot M/AF/0002 · F-18 Hornet Pilot 2000. Before MMS. Before the numbering most collectors know. Before Hot Toys looked very much like the Hot Toys we know now. The product photography is rough. The packaging is wonderfully of its time. The codes are slightly feral. The Archive is delighted. MMS001 is still where it always was. It has simply lost its claim to the front door.
