THE LEGEND
Somewhere in the Caribbean sits Peña Duro, a prison so cruel that children can be sentenced there for their fathers' crimes. One was. The boy who grew up inside those walls read every book in the prison library, hardened his body against the stone, and dreamed each night of a great bat that ruled a distant city through fear. The inmates learned to whisper his chosen name: Bane.
The experimental serum called Venom should have killed him. Instead it made him the only survivor of the program, a strategist wrapped in a strongman's frame with toxin lines feeding his skull. He conquered Santa Prisca, then came to Gotham with a plan no brawler would conceive: exhaust the Bat first, fight him last. When the moment came he lifted the city's dark knight over his knee and broke him, and for one long season the legend of Gotham belonged to the man in the luchador mask.

Bane was engineered, not evolved: in 1993 Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench and artist Graham Nolan were tasked with creating a villain worthy of doing the unthinkable, and the Knightfall arc ended with Batman's spine over Bane's knee, one of the most reprinted panels in comics. Few characters have suffered such screen whiplash since. Batman & Robin (1997) reduced him to a mute mound of henchman; The Dark Knight Rises (2012) handed him to Tom Hardy, who rebuilt him from the voice up into a courteous, terrifying warlord and minted a thousand memes in the process. Between the two, the animated series and the Arkham games kept the real Bane alive: the thinker who happens to be the strongest man in the room. He remains that rarest thing, a 1990s addition to a golden-age rogues gallery that permanently stuck.
IN SIXTH SCALE
Sixth scale keeps returning to both of Bane's faces. Hot Toys built the definitive Dark Knight Rises version, shearling coat, tactical vest and that unmistakable mask, while Mondo answered for the animated wrecking ball. The third-party bench loves him too: Art Figures, DafToys and Mars Toys have all shipped coded takes on the masked strategist. Collectors rate a Bane by two tests: whether the seamless or bulked body actually carries the mass without slouching, and whether the mask's tubing and paint survive close inspection. He anchors a DC villain shelf like almost no one else, a silhouette you read from across the room.
