He spent ten years in a cupboard under the stairs before a giant knocked the door down and said the five words that changed everything. The Boy Who Lived carries the scar of the killing curse that could not kill him, a wand twinned with his enemy's, and a talent for finding trouble that Hogwarts' staff eventually just budgeted for.
His power was never really the magic (Hermione was better at that). It was the refusal: to abandon a friend, to hand over the prophecy, to stay dead in the forest when staying dead was the easier thing. He walked to Voldemort willingly, took the curse a second time, and came back to finish it. Then he gave up the most powerful wand in the world, because he had a family to get back to. All was well.

The book that a dozen publishers rejected in 1997 became the best-selling series in history and taught a generation to read doorstop novels for fun. The films then did something rarer: they let one cast grow up on camera for a decade, and Daniel Radcliffe went from eleven-year-old to leading man inside a single role.
Hogwarts houses, patronuses and "the boy who lived" became universal cultural furniture; the round glasses and lightning scar may be the most instantly drawn character shorthand since Mickey's ears.
