It took me 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success.
THE LEGEND
A boy from Rosario too small for the academies, prescribed growth hormone his family could not afford, signed by Barcelona on a paper napkin because the scout refused to let him leave the table. What followed is the most decorated career in the history of the sport: eight Ballons d'Or, a record that reads like a typo, four Champions Leagues, the most goals ever scored for a single club, and finally, in Qatar in 2022, the World Cup itself, the last argument settled in gold.
The style was the miracle: no theatrics, no wasted motion, just a low centre of gravity and a ball that behaved as if magnetized. Defenders describe marking him the way sailors describe weather. He walked more than any forward of his era and arrived earlier than all of them, because the game in his head was always several seconds ahead of the one on the grass. The napkin, naturally, is in a museum.
OFF THE PAGE
Messi versus Ronaldo was the longest-running argument in modern sport, fifteen years of parallel impossibility, and it made both men bigger: every playground on the planet picked a side. Messi's side was the romantics': proof that the small, the quiet and the left-footed could rule the loudest game on Earth. When he finally lifted the World Cup in a black-and-gold bisht, the photograph became one of the most liked images in the history of the internet within a day.
His 2023 arrival at Inter Miami rewired American football overnight, pink shirts colonizing continents that had never watched a full match. The napkin, the hormone injections, the overnight success seventeen years in the making: his story is the hobby's favorite kind, a collectible in itself.
IN SIXTH SCALE
Messi's sixth-scale presence lives in the coded sports ateliers, where Memo Studio tailors the eras: Barcelona blaugrana, Argentina stripes, and the Miami pink that sells as fast as the shirts do. Kit collectors treat his figures the way the sport treats his career, by period, the way one collects a painter.
He anchors the Sports shelf opposite his eternal rival, and his scouting report below is the founding document of this Archive's whole rating system: the first card to prove that a footballer needed a FOOTBALL ladder, where Lionel Messi is a 95, and not a superhero one, where he is a delightful 9. Both numbers are true. That was the point.

The Archivist's estimates, scribbled between shelf dustings. Not canon, not law, and absolutely worth arguing about in the Courtyard.
