THE LEGEND
Ranni is a Lunar Princess of Caria, daughter of Queen Rennala and Radagon, and one of the demigods chosen by the Two Fingers as a possible successor to Queen Marika. Being chosen made her an Empyrean, with a destiny already written for her. She refused it. To break free she took a fragment of the Rune of Death and used it to forge the black knives of the Night of the Black Knives, and in doing so she killed her own flesh.
Her spirit now lives in a doll modelled on the snowy crone who once taught her: pale, cold, four-armed and cracked. From her tower at Ranni's Rise in Liurnia she keeps a small and loyal circle around her, Blaidd, her shadow and stepbrother, War Counselor Iji and the scheming Preceptor Seluvis. Travellers who meet her first hear her give the name Renna. Her aim is to take the dark path and send the stars and the moon far away from the earth, and the Tarnished who helps her may end up at her side when that age begins.
OFF THE PAGE
Ranni comes from Elden Ring, the open-world action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, released on 25 February 2022. Hidetaka Miyazaki directed it, and George R. R. Martin wrote the mythology that sits behind the main story, which is why so much of Ranni's past is told in fragments: half-remembered history, item descriptions and the gossip of her servants. Aimee-Ffion Edwards voices her in English.
Her questline sends the player across the map, into the underground city of Nokron in search of the Fingerslayer Blade, and ends in the Age of the Stars, one of the game's endings and the one where the player turns away from the Erdtree altogether. A cold, four-armed doll in an oversized witch's hat turned out to be one of the most recognisable faces in the game. Elden Ring won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2022 and passed 30 million copies sold by April 2025, and Ranni has remained a favourite of its fan art and collectibles.
IN SIXTH SCALE
Ranni has come to sixth scale through Chinese collectible makers, both selling her under variant names. CC Toys made 'Ranni the Witch' with two rooted-hair head sculpts, one of them bloodstained, the wide witch's hat, a cloak, layered robes, a girdle, a display platform and a spare pair of arms so she can be shown with all four. LimToys, working with MTToys, made her as 'Renna' on a specially built four-armed body, with a rooted-hair head, the hat, a cape, coats, and a chair and book that set the scene in her tower.
That extra pair of arms is the test collectors apply first, since it is the detail that separates Ranni from every other witch on the shelf. The hat is the second, because at this scale it has to sit right without hiding the face. She is a natural centrepiece for an Elden Ring display beside Melina, and works alongside other FromSoftware worlds such as Bloodborne and Sekiro.
