Do. Or do not. There is no try.
Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

THE LEGEND

No archive records his species, his homeworld, or his first name, and in nine hundred years he corrected no one who asked. The Order's Grand Master trained generations of Jedi from younglings to legends, spoke in a grammar all his own, and carried more of the Force in his small green frame than temples full of taller masters. When the Republic fell in a single night of betrayal, he fought the Emperor to a standstill in the Senate's own chamber, and then did the hardest thing a warrior can do: he vanished. The swamp world of Dagobah hid a hermit who called his exile failure, until a farm boy crashed a starfighter into the marsh asking for a great warrior. What the boy got instead was the lesson the galaxy still repeats: size matters not, wars make no one great, and there is no try. He watched his own funeral pyre as a luminous being, which he had been all along.

OFF THE PAGE

Yoda was an insane gamble: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) hinged its most important scenes on a rubber puppet, and Frank Oz's performance with Stuart Freeborn's design made the gamble into cinema history. The prequels turned the puppet into a CG whirlwind with a lightsaber, a whiplash fans still argue about, and the inverted grammar became one of the most imitated speech patterns in pop culture. Two decades later The Mandalorian's Grogu sent the entire lineage viral all over again, sending new audiences back to the original master. Among fiction's mentors, Yoda sits in the smallest chair at the head table, quoted in graduation speeches and gym posters alike by people who have never seen the films. Not bad for someone who claimed wars make no one great and then became a war icon anyway.

IN SIXTH SCALE

Sixth-scale Yoda is a beautiful contradiction: a premium figure the size of a fist. Hot Toys and Sideshow have both taken him on across eras, from the Dagobah hermit with soft-goods robes to the prequel Grand Master with his tiny green saber. At this scale everything hardens into a craft test, robe drape, skin texture, the famous eyes, because there is nowhere for a flaw to hide on a figure you can palm. Collectors love him as the shelf's counterpoint: one small master parked beside a towering Vader tells the whole Star Wars saga in two silhouettes.

THE SCOUTING REPORT

The Archivist's estimates, scribbled between shelf dustings. Not canon, not law, and absolutely worth arguing about in the Courtyard.
