Sideshow Collectibles

Sideshow Collectibles (now often just Sideshow) has been part of the high-end collector hobby since the mid-1990s, making them one of the longest-tenured players in the space. Their 1/6 work covered a wide licence range, from Star Wars, DC, and Marvel to Universal Monsters, Aliens, and Predator, before licensing exclusivity increasingly moved to Hot Toys through the late 2000s and 2010s.

As a manufacturer, Sideshow's 1/6 figures were a reliable premium tier in their era: better than mass market, well-constructed, with a range of characters that no one else was making. As those licences moved, Sideshow evolved into something broader, a high-end collectibles company producing premium statues, life-size replicas, and dioramas alongside their figure line.

The part of the story that doesn't get discussed enough: Sideshow became the primary US distributor for Hot Toys, which put them at a genuinely unusual intersection of competing with and enabling their most prominent rival. Today, when a US collector orders a Hot Toys figure through official channels, that order typically runs through Sideshow. Their position in the ecosystem is irreplaceable regardless of what you think of their own manufacturing output.
