Alita: Battle Angel Figures
4 sixth-scale figures across 2 manufacturers
Alita began as Gunnm, Yukito Kishiro's manga published in Shueisha's Business Jump from 1990 to 1995 and known in English as Battle Angel Alita. Alita is an amnesiac cyborg whose head and chest are found in the Scrapyard's garbage dump by the cyber medic Daisuke Ido, who rebuilds her. She turns out to remember a lost martial art, Panzer Kunst, and becomes a bounty hunter in the city beneath floating Zalem. Robert Rodriguez directed the film Alita: Battle Angel (2019), produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau, with Rosa Salazar as Alita.
The film's sixth scale story starts at [Hot Toys](/manufacturer/hot-toys), whose Movie Masterpiece [Alita](/character/alita) has a newly sculpted head with separate rolling eyeballs, dark brown hair with a magnetic feature, a body with more than thirty points of articulation, her blade, a heart that attaches to the body and a diorama stand inspired by the film's battle scenes. At around 27 cm she stands a little shorter than most of the shelf, which is right for the character. [Play Toy](/manufacturer/play-toy) has since made its own Alita figures in standard and deluxe form, under names such as Battle Angel.
The question with any Alita figure is the face. The film's design sits between human and animated, and collectors judge a figure by whether the eyes look like hers or like a doll's. Then comes the cyborg body itself: panel lines, joints and finish.
