Top Gun Figures

Top Gun is Tony Scott's 1986 film, produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, with Tom Cruise as Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a young naval aviator who flies the F-14A Tomcat with his radar intercept officer Goose and is sent to the Navy Fighter Weapons School, known as Top Gun, at NAS Miramar. Thirty-six years later Cruise came back in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), directed by Joseph Kosinski.

In sixth scale the franchise is mostly about one man, and almost all of it follows the second film. [VTS Toys](/manufacturer/vts-toys), [Shining Toys](/manufacturer/shining-toys) and [Pop Toys](/manufacturer/pop-toys) have each made [Maverick](/character/maverick) from Top Gun: Maverick, which makes it easy to compare how different studios handle the same face and the same flight gear.

Pilots are a natural subject for the hobby, since the kit tells the story: the flight suit, harness, helmet and patches have to be right before the figure looks like an aviator at all. Collectors who like the gear more than the film will find plenty more on the [Military](/franchise/military) shelf.
