THE LEGEND

Scott Summers was the first. Before the school had a name, before the jet, before the dream had anyone to carry it, there was a boy who could not open his eyes without destroying whatever he looked at, and a teacher who told him that control was possible. The ruby-quartz visor is not a weapon. It is a promise he renews every waking second of his life: the most dangerous thing in the room, holding itself back on purpose. They call him the Boy Scout, usually while he is saving them. Field command of the X-Men has passed through many hands and always comes back to his, because tactics are what he does instead of blinking. The blasts are not heat and they are not light; they are pure concussive force from somewhere else, and the man behind them has spent his whole life doing geometry fast enough to use them gently.

OFF THE PAGE

Cyclops debuted in 1963 in the first issue of X-Men, and for decades he was the designated straight man: the rules-follower audiences were invited to find less cool than Wolverine, a comparison the films leaned on hard. Then the comics did something remarkable, letting him radicalize across a decade of stories until the Boy Scout became mutantkind's revolutionary, and "Cyclops was right" graduated from fan joke to genuine editorial thesis. The animated series gave him his square-jawed archetype, the 2000 film gave him the spandex line, and X-Men '97 completed the rehabilitation with a portrayal so commanding that a thirty-year-old punchline became the internet's favorite leader overnight. Few characters have been re-evaluated so completely without ever changing their costume.

IN SIXTH SCALE

His sixth-scale history mirrors the rehabilitation. Sideshow Collectibles built the classic comic Cyclops era, Mondo answered decades later with the X-Men '97 wave that rode the character's renaissance, and Present Toys and Medicom Toy fill out the field. Within the Marvel wing he remains rarer than his podium status deserves, which collectors of taste regard as the market still catching up to the '97 verdict: the visor stays on, and the stock stays low.

THE SCOUTING REPORT

The Archivist's estimates, scribbled between shelf dustings. Not canon, not law, and absolutely worth arguing about in the Courtyard.
