Invincible began at Image Comics in 2003, created by Robert Kirkman with artists Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, and ran until 2018. Its hero is Mark Grayson, a teenager who inherits the powers of his father Nolan, the world's greatest hero Omni-Man. Nolan is a Viltrumite, sent to Earth to conquer it for his empire. That turn, and what it does to a father and son, is the spine of the story. Amazon Prime Video's animated series, from 2021, cast Steven Yeun as Mark and J. K. Simmons as Omni-Man and carried the comic to a much bigger audience.

In sixth scale the series has been taken up by independent makers. [SooSooToys](/manufacturer/soosootoys) produced both [Omni-Man](/character/omni-man) and Mark as [Invincible](/character/invincible), sold under its own product names ("Omnipotent Hero" for Nolan, "Unbreakable" for Mark) rather than under the show's title. [SSR](/manufacturer/ssr) made an Omni-Man of its own. SooSooToys works the same way on its other superhero subjects, including figures from [The Boys](/franchise/the-boys).

The challenge here is turning a flat animated design into a realistic twelve-inch figure. Collectors look at whether the suit colors and cape hold up at this size, and above all at the head sculpt, which has to read as Nolan or Mark without a name on the box to help.
