Pop Culture Figures
63 sixth-scale figures across 12 manufacturers
Some of the most collected faces in sixth scale never played a fictional character. The Pop Culture shelf holds real people from music, film history, space travel and the creative world: rock stars and pop idols, Hollywood greats, astronauts and the creators behind the stories other shelves are built on.
Music fills much of it. [Medicom Toy](/manufacturer/medicom-toy) was an early mover through its Real Action Heroes line, which first made Daft Punk in their Human After All outfits in 2006 and returned to the duo for TRON: Legacy and Random Access Memories. Medicom also made [Freddie Mercury](/character/freddie-mercury), Keith Richards and Johnny Rotten. [Michael Jackson](/character/michael-jackson) has been made by both [InArt](/manufacturer/inart) and DamToys, [Blitzway](/manufacturer/blitzway) has made [Jimi Hendrix](/character/jimi-hendrix), and [SooSooToys](/manufacturer/soosootoys) covers [Prince](/character/prince), G-Dragon and hide of X Japan.
[Star Ace Toys](/manufacturer/star-ace-toys) brings classic Hollywood and the space age: [Audrey Hepburn](/character/audrey-hepburn) in Breakfast at Tiffany's, [James Dean](/character/james-dean), and the Apollo astronauts [Neil Armstrong](/character/neil-armstrong), from Apollo 11 in 1969, and Eugene Cernan, from Apollo 17 in 1972. The shelf also honours creators, with Hot Toys making George Lucas and Por.Toys making Hayao Miyazaki.
Collectors here buy the person and the moment, and they want both to be right. A figure usually captures one era, one album cover or one famous performance, so the outfit and the pose matter as much as the face. Many of these figures sit in collections that are otherwise all film and comics, as a nod to the people who shaped what the owner loves.
