Toystay

Toystay is a custom studio that has been making its name with head sculpts. Its best-known work is replacement Spider-Man heads built to fit Hot Toys bodies, so collectors can give an existing figure a sharper, more screen-accurate face. The range covers Tobey Maguire's mask, from the torn mask of Spider-Man 3's final battle to his No Way Home return, the 2012 Amazing Spider-Man, and heads for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, including one with movable eyes and a half-unmasked version. If you own a Hot Toys Spider-Man, this is the upgrade path.

The studio also makes complete figures, sold under its own names and built on platinum silicone seamless bodies with movable-eye heads. Final Fantasy VII is the headline: TS-007 Wolf Ride is Cloud Strife, and TS-008 Heir is Zack Fair, SOLDIER 1st Class, a natural pair on the shelf beside Cloud figures from VTS Toys and GameToys.

From Capcom come Ada Wong of Resident Evil, in her red sweater and in a cheongsam, and Kung Fu Girl, the studio's Chun-Li, offered in blue, pink, red and black qipao. These are unlicensed figures, so the character lives in the sculpt and the costume, and that is exactly where Toystay puts its effort.

For collectors outside Asia, Toystay's official international distributor is Vincentoy Studio, whose North American store carries both the head sculpts and the figures.
